Needle-free mesotherapy in TMT System®

TMT system introduces an electric charge into stratum corneum in a combination of 2 kinds of current. This causes electrophoroporation, which means iontophoresis combined with electroporation.

Electroporation is a physical phenomenon which occurs in cell membranes and the stratum corneum. Under the influence of electric impulse it creates pores in the lipid layer. An application of an electric impulse of a defined amperage within µs increases membrane lipid layer permeability and causes additional particle transport through the membrane into or out of the cell. Electroporation improves diffusion and multiplies percutaneous transport of active substances in the form of neutral hydrophilic and loaded particles. The transport takes place mostly in the areas which are not connected with skin appendages, it also increases water retention in the stratum corneum.

Iontophoresis is a physical phenomenon, in which an application of electric current attracts particles through the skin by electrostatic repulsion and electroosmosis. Iontophoresis facilitates transdermal transport of substances in the form of ions or charged particles, caused by repulsion between an electrode in contact with the skin and the charge of ionised particles. The quantity of transported ionised particles is closely proportional to treatment intensity and duration. Iontophoresis does not generate new routes to introduce substances, the main one being skin appendages (sweat glands and hair follicles). Ions and other substances may permeate the skin during iontophoresis thanks to electroosmosis. Substance movement caused by repulsion generates an osmotic gradient, which draws water carrying unloaded soluble substances, even large particle ones, through the skin.

In TMT system both phenomena occur at the same moment. This greatly increases the quantity and depth (4mm into the skin) of active substances penetration applied externally.

The effectiveness of needle-free mesotherapy in TMT System® in increasing skin permeability has been experimentally assessed in research conducted on surgical skin fragments. TMT System® increases skin permeability for active substances:

• 7 x higher penetration of active substances into stratum corneum,
• 14 x higher penetration of active substances into epidermis,
• 40 x higher penetration of active substances into dermis.

Frequency of needle-free mesotherapy: 10 treatments 2 x week.
